Do I have to schedule a hair appointment?

While we happily accept walk-ins whenever possible, we recommend scheduling an appointment to ensure you can reserve your preferred time and stylist. Walk-ins are subject to availability, so booking ahead guarantees the best experience!

What is the difference between semi / demi / permanent coloring?

Semi-permanent: Coats the outer layer of the hair and lasts about 4-6 weeks. It gradually fades with washing and is perfect for enhancing natural tones or trying out new colors without a long-term commitment.

Demi-permanent: Penetrates slightly deeper into the hair than semi-permanent color. It lasts longer (about 6-8 weeks), provides better gray blending, and delivers a more natural look with less damage since it typically doesn’t contain ammonia.

Permanent: Fully penetrates the hair shaft for long-lasting color and complete gray coverage. It’s ideal for dramatic color changes but requires root touch-ups as hair grows.

How often should I wash or condition my hair?

Porosity: If your hair is highly porous (absorbs water easily), it may need more moisture, so conditioning every wash and using leave-in treatments are key. Low-porosity hair (repels water) can become weighed down, so lighter conditioning and less frequent washing might be best.

Condition of Hair: Damaged or dry hair benefits from less frequent washing (2-3 times a week) and deep conditioning treatments to restore moisture. Healthy or oily hair may need washing more often, but over-washing can strip natural oils, so balance is important.

Your stylist should be able to suggest a routine suitable for your hair. Don’t forget to get regular hair trims.

How long has Salon Vivid been around?

Salon Vivid has been serving the community since 2001, but the owner’s journey in the industry started long before that, back in 1992! The owner began as an assistant, shampooing hair at Crickets, and has grown to build the incredible salon we have today.
